It is not a suitable uniform for any occasion, and in some cases, if other uniforms are more suitable, the BDU cannot be worn. When on duty, the commander will clearly specify whether to wear the BDU; in leisure time, unless specifically requested by the commander, the BDU should not be worn. BDU is not allowed for travel or normal personal flow, except for travel from residence to post. BDU is also not allowed to be worn on aircraft, unless it is a group action of a military nature. When wearing a C-class uniform, it is stipulated that the coat must be worn over the pants, and the pants must be tied with a belt. The trousers must be tightened. If there is no elastic band in the trousers themselves, the legs must be tied or the trousers must be securely tied inside the high-top boots. The trousers must be loose and not attached to the legs, making the legs look like long nails. Only on some special occasions, such as military parades, inspections by superiors, celebrations, etc., when the dress is required to show a fresh and capable style, the on-site commander can ask the soldiers to tie the uniform tightly. Generally, the C-class uniform can only be worn with black high-top leather boots. Other equipment, such as equipment belts, water bottles, hook belts, etc., need to be ordered by the on-site commander, and all personnel must load or unload them uniformly. Heavy combat equipment (military police equipment) loaded on the BDU should only be worn collectively during combat missions and must be authorized by the field commander. If the sleeves need to be rolled up, the sleeves should be rolled up above the elbow, but not 3 inches (7.5cm) above the elbow, and the camouflage surface must be kept outside.

Summer uniforms and other seasonal uniforms cannot be worn together. In some special circumstances, such as high-intensity training, manual labor or climatic reasons, the commander may order that the coat is not to be worn for the time being. The BDU Army-style BDU patrol hat of the US Army is the basic hat of the BDU. The "pointed" hat of the Marine Corps style with jungle camouflage pattern is not allowed to be worn with the BDU at any time. Wear the BDU patrol hat must be worn straight. The brim line around the head should be parallel to the ground, and the forehead should not show hair. It is not an occasion for formation ceremonies. If the weather is cold, the commander can allow soldiers to wear earmuffs under the hat. Wearing a BDU patrol hat cannot put things inside or turn it over. Authorization to wear the organization's emblem beret in conjunction with the BDU has yet to be confirmed at the top. Official officers' hats have bright rank badges; recruits' rank badges have a soft gloss. Soldiers can wear summer fabric uniforms or regular fabrics without special designation. Soldiers can wear black leather gloves while wearing their uniforms in cold weather if they don't have a coat to keep out the cold, but the sleeves must come down and cover the gloves (there is no rule on when soldiers must wear gloves, only when they need to protect their hands from the cold).

A jungle camouflage winter coat can be worn with all BDUs. An all-black winter coat can be used as a raincoat, but it is better to choose a military raincoat with a jungle camouflage pattern, which is much better camouflage. When it is cold, you can wear an olive green military scarf and black leather gloves without a winter coat or designated winter coat, but if there is a winter coat, you cannot wear a scarf and gloves. The coat must be zipped tightly and buttoned. The shirt collar should be worn inside the coat, not turned out. The wearer can decide whether to wear the hood with the camouflage winter coat belt; but when not wearing it, be sure to fold it into the collar of the coat and zip it tightly. Only on non-combat duty and in the camp can women bring handbags or handbags while wearing uniform.
